Just wanted to send out a quick update about the surprise snow storm heading our way. Unexpectedly, a cold storm materialized in the Pacific yesterday and we are expected to get our first significant snow of the year - just in time for Thanksgiving!

Precipitation is supposed to begin tonight and last through Saturday. Around 12" of snow is expected. Here is a link to the our local weatherman's forecast: http://www.bensweather.com/

If this storm materializes as planned, the ski resorts might be open by the weekend and are likely to be open for Thanksgiving. Also, if you plan to come to Big Bear over the next few days, keep an eye on potential tire chain requirements. As always, I suggest you put the 800 number for Caltrans in your cell phone and check chain warnings as you approach the bottom of the mountain: 800-427-7623.

If you have all-wheel drive or 4WD vehicles, you should be fine. But you never know!

I hope you get a chance to come to Big Bear next week to experience a somewhat rare "White Thanksgiving"!
See the cold air pushing down from the north mixing with the wet, tropical air mass approaching from the west. Could mean big snow!
