It looks like the 2014-2015 Big Bear ski season will soon be underway as both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain Resorts began making snow yesterday. With daytime temperatures in the 40s and nights dipping into the 20s this week, the ski resorts have a decent window for blowing snow and hopefully the slopes will be sufficiently covered by Thanksgiving to open.
Having the local resorts open by the upcoming holiday weekend should be a nice added boost to Big Bear real estate interest as well. Open slopes means more visitors and more visitors means more people who will be certainly be interested in owning a vacation home in our amazing four season local resort community. We also expect to see increased visitorship due to the recent purchase of our local resorts by Mammoth Mountain investors. Under new ownership, our mountains are now honoring Mammoth Mountain season passes at our local resorts. This is certain to result in increased skier visits and increased real estate interest.
