Bear Lake East is the area located just east of the Big Bear Village extending all the way to Stanfield Cutoff, the main road crossing Big Bear Lake to the east. This area is generally flat and easily accessible. It is central and no more than 5 minutes from skiing, hiking, shopping, the village or the lake.
The main landmark associated with Bear Lake East is Snow Summit Resort. One of Big Bear's two ski resorts, it is also home to scenic chairlift rides in the summer. You can load your mountain bike on the chair, eat lunch at the summit restaurant, and then ride back down when you have had enough of the spectacular lake and mountain views!
Bordered by Big Bear lake to the north, Bear lake east is home to many Big Bear lakefront homes. Some of the most impressive waterfront properties can be found on Eagle Point, the largest peninsula on the lake. Aptly named, it is not unusual to find bald eagles perched atop the pine scags looking for their next dinner below the lake's surface.
As you head inland, closer to Snow Summit Resort and National Forest, you will find a mix of Big Bear log homes, rustic cabins, and newer custom built properties. Proximity to the slopes in particular is in high demand for people interested in Big Bear real estate. Homes close to the slopes make for great vacation rentals. This is important for those looking to make some income when not using their second home.
There are several Big Bear luxury homes in Bear Lake East as well. You'll find the lakeside communities of Eagle Knoll and Eagle Point Estates which have their own private marinas, as well as Heavenly Valley, a comfortable, quiet neighborhood of homes tucked away off the beaten path.
